A child is in a life-threatening condition after being injured by a firearm on a local farm
Emergency services were called at around 2.50pm to a farm in the Warcop area today, September 28, following a report that a child had been seriously injured by a firearm at the property.
Police and the North West Ambulance Service attended and an eight-year-old boy was taken to hospital by air ambulance having suffered serious injuries to his head and face.
The boy is currently in a life-threatening condition.
Officers arrested a man in his 60s at the scene on suspicion of assault grievous bodily harm (GBH). He remains in police custody.
The firearm was secured at the scene by police.
