Shoppers in Penrith town centre got a shock when a convoy of classic and custom cars passed through, followed by convoys of tractors and lorries.
The Cumbria Charity Convoy was raising money for the Great North Air Ambulance and the Cancer Centre at Carlisle’s Cumberland Infirmary.
The three convoys drove through Penrith yesterday as part of their routes, which started and finished at Penrith Auction Mart.
The routes also included Shap, Langwathby, Glassonby, Kirkoswald, Keswick, Kendal, Newby Bridge, Ambleside, Cockermouth and Carlisle.
Paul Grindley, who sent us these photos, said: “The trucks and tractors in particular were certainly a spectacular sight as they made their way up Middlegate in Penrith, with Saturday afternoon shoppers getting quite a shock and reaching for their phones to record the sight.
“The trucks also added to the occasion, by flashing their lights and blasting their airhorns so everyone knew they were approaching.”
