Nearly 200 homes in an Eden village suffered Boxing Day blackness as Storm Bella wrought havoc on the power network.
Ivegill was badly hit with 187 properties suffering outages as severe gales and heavy rain hit Cumbria with Lancashire and the Peak District also being affected.
Engineers from Electricity North West worked for 24 hours in difficult conditions to repair damage caused to the network as the storm hit during the night.
They restored power to more than 5,800 customers, predominantly and handled more than 1,400 direct calls from customers during the adverse weather conditions.
Other areas affected in Cumbria were Winscales, Garsdale, Scales (Ulverston), Haverthwaite, Greenodd, Natland and Ambleside (Waterhead).
Mark Mercer, network systems manager for Electricity North West, said: “Our engineers battled some difficult weather conditions and I’m really proud that we’ve been able to restore power to more than 5,800 properties since Storm Bella first battered our region.
“I would like to thank our customers for their patience and support today and our teams for pulling together to respond in tough conditions.”
