Carlisle’s Lake District Airport is under new ownership and plans are in the works to invest £5 million into the site.
AW Jenkinson Group has taken control of the airport and the buildings leased on site, after coming to an agreement with Cumberland Council and Esken – the energy and aviation company which formerly owned the site.
The new owner is a Penrith firm and is one of the UK’s largest providers of haulage, distribution and logistics.
The firm declined to comment when we contacted it.
