The first ever virtual switch-on of Appleby Christmas tree lights was watched by viewers as far as America and Switzerland.
The event took place yesterday and the festivities were broadcast online to spread much-needed festive cheer.
Mayor Gareth Hayes did the official lighting-up of the tree in the Market Square accompanied in his “bauble not bubble” by deputy mayor Jim Chalmers and mayoresses Mary McKenzie and Rebecca Page.
