The A66 is closed between Bowes and Brough is closed due to strong winds.
National Highways closed the route between the A67 and the A685 at 9.30pm yesterday, Tuesday.
The closure is likely to remain in place into and beyond peak times, it said.
Wind speeds continue to be monitored and structures and roads affected will be reopened only when it is safe to do so, National Highways added.
