A horse died as the result of a collision on the A66.
Emergency services were called at around 8.15am yesterday morning, June 6, to the incident, near North Stainmore.
It involved a bow top caravan pulled by two horses.
A statement from Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service this morning said: “Two fire engines attended a road traffic collision with persons trapped on the A66, North Stainmore.
“The incident involved one horse trailer, one large box van and one pick up truck. Firefighters assisted ambulance with one casualty from vehicle. Six casualties involved. Crews were in attendance for approximately one hour.”
Three of the people in the bow top were taken to hospital with minor injuries and one of the horses died. The driver of the wagon was not injured.
The road was closed for a period of time while emergency services were on the scene and traffic diverted.
