A healthcare group has announced it will open a luxury care home in Penrith, creating new jobs.
Hadrian Healthcare Group, which has five homes – including one in Gosforth – said it had acquired a site in the town for it to create a ‘manor house development’ which, it said, would offer a unique standard of luxury for the elderly.
It said: “Our plan is to design and develop a traditional-style country Manor House set within stunning landscaped gardens.
“As well as spacious private suites, each with en suite bathrooms and shower facilities, residents will benefit from a wide range of exceptional facilities, including a garden café, hair and beauty salon, private dining, outdoor terraces, an extensive activities programme, and a client concierge service, all designed to provide an independent quality of life.”
Founder and chairman Ian Watson said: “Our proposal entails a capital investment of around £15 million and underlines our commitment to remaining one of the UK’s premier providers of luxury elderly accommodation and care.
“We are currently finalising our development plans in anticipation of submitting our proposal for planning permission as soon as possible.
“This is our second significant investment, after having recently secured another great site in Hexham, and both of these developments will provide a combined total in excess of 160 new jobs within the area.”
