An Eden pub with a great reputation for food which was closed following a fire last summer is to reopen next month.
The Askham Collection, home to Askham Hall and the Queen’s Head at Askham, has announced that its Clifton pub, the George and Dragon, near Penrith, is set to reopen on 5th June.
It will reopen fully refurbished, with brand new interiors throughout its bar, restaurant and bedrooms and it will have a new menu too.
In the restaurant, there will still be an open kitchen, with the grill at its heart and the menu will remain centred around produce reared, foraged and grown locally, with the new addition of sharing plates.
It will be open for lunch on Fridays and Saturdays, dinner every evening and a roast on Sundays and will remain family friendly and dog friendly too.
Charles Lowther, owner, said: “We are excited to finally be reopening the George and Dragon. The team has worked hard over the last year to restore and refurbish it. We were keen to keep all the things our guests loved about us before, but also use this as an opportunity to bring out a more thought-out style, embracing all that is great about our special area.
“We feel we’ve done that and can’t wait to welcome people back. We’ve really missed being part of the community and we’re excited to get back to it.”
