A Penrith care home is on the market for £1.4 million.
But the operators of Croft Avenue Care Home said it wants to sell it as a going concern.
HC-One, which runs Croft Avenue Care Home, has confirmed that the search for a new provider for the site is now on.
It said the decision was not taken lightly to sell the home and it believed the home would be better supported by a different operator with a different offer to the local community.
The Wordsworth Street home will continue to be operated by HC-One until a new provider can be found. The property is listed on a freehold basis.
Jobs will be protected, terms and conditions for staff will remain in place and service will continue as normal. There are no plans to close the site.
A spokeswoman for HC-One said: “Our utmost priority is the health and wellbeing of our residents.
“This decision has not been taken lightly, but we feel the home will be better supported by a different operator with a different offer to the local community.
“In the meantime, Croft Avenue will continue to be part of the HC-One family and receive our full support, and there will be no change in the day-to-day running of the home while the sale process is underway.
“The home will be sold as an operational care home and we will look for a high-quality care provider to take this home forward as just that, a home.
“We will be working closely with prospective buyers to ensure that everyone’s jobs and the existing terms and conditions of their employment are protected by TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment) regulations.
“The sale of the home will only happen when we are convinced we have found the right alternative operator who will help the home thrive over the long-term.”
