An agent has received hundreds of enquiries and has carried out 50 viewings for a boathouse in the Lake District.
Despite being flooded in 2009 and 2015, the idyllic West Lodge Boathouse on the shores of Ullswater is said to be in high demand by estate agents Savills.
“Since launching West Lodge Boathouse we have had a fantastic response, with hundreds of enquiries and over 50 viewings already,” said Will Douglas, associate director in the rural agency team at Savills in York.
Will has a theory about why interest has been so high in the property.
“Quite simply it is a stunning setting and unique position which has captured people’s imaginations,” he said.
Despite the wide-reaching impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, Will is still buoyant about the property market in the Lake District and Eden areas.
“The market is very active with buyers trying to secure properties and competitive bidding for the most sought after properties,” he added.
A complete renovation is required at the property, which could be designed to contain either three or four bedrooms.
The site is 0.75 acres and is close to the A66 and nine miles from Penrith, the M6 and the West Coast Mainline.
Ground floor accommodation includes a porch, entrance hall, kitchen and two reception rooms. The first-floor accommodation includes two bedrooms and a family bathroom.
The additional ground floor which sits over the boathouse is arranged as two further rooms, bathroom and store.
Throughout the property are exposed beams, traditional fireplaces and wonderful stonework, together with many other attractive period features, which could be further enhanced when renovating the property.
