An award-winning B&B in the Eden Valley is on the market for offers over £825,000.
Redmayne House, in Kirkby Stephen, is for sale with Christie & Co.
The Grade II listed Georgian house was recently awarded the TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Award for 2021 and has been reviewed in The Guardian.
Thought to have been built in 1787, records indicate the original part of the property dates back to around 1650.
Surrounded by secluded walled gardens on an overall site extending to around 0.48 acres, the B&B is just off the main road.
It has four recently refurbished en suite guest bedrooms, along with a breakfast room and guest lounge which boast many original features.
The site also includes four-bedroom owner’s accommodation and a detached double garage.
Redmayne House is being offered for sale so current owners, Rob and Liz Paisley can retire.
They acquired the property in 2015 and reopened for business in 2016.
Rob and Liz both had long teaching careers before moving to Redmayne House.
Although they had no prior experience in hospitality, they said they had enjoyed building up the business and were encouraged by the appreciation of all their guests.
Rob and Liz said: “Kirkby Stephen is a thriving town where we have settled and made many friends.
“We have thoroughly enjoyed running Redmayne House and are so proud with what we have achieved.
“We want to hand over the successful business that we have built to new owners who will enjoy the experience as much as we have.”
Keith Stringer, director in Christie & Co’s hotels, licensed and leisure team is handling the sale.
He said: “Redmayne House is a truly outstanding property with a wealth of tasteful period features.
“The award-winning business offers a new owner a fantastic lifestyle opportunity to live and work in the sought-after region which attracts over 47 million visitors each year.”
Offers over £825,000 are invited for the freehold.
