Terms & conditions for our subscription prize giveaway

The Cumberland & Westmorland Herald’s subscription prize giveaway is organised by Barrnon Media, of 33 Middlegate, Penrith, Cumbria, CA11 7SY.

For the purposes of these terms & conditions, “we/our” refers to Barrnon Media and the “prize draw” refers to a monthly random draw undertaken by Barrnon Media with a £50 top prize available for each draw.

The giveaway is open to all subscribers of the Cumberland & Westmorland Herald, both UK and international.

Our prize draws and competitions are open to all except employees of Barrnon Media, their families, agents or any third party directly associated with administration of the prize draw.

Entrants must be over 18 years old on the date of their entry.

Entrants who enter into the prize draw shall be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions.

We accept no responsibility for entries not successfully completed due to a technical fault, technical malfunction, computer hardware or software failure, satellite, network or server failure of any kind.

There are no other prize alternatives available in whole or in part. In the event that the prizes offered are unavailable due to circumstances beyond our control, we reserve the right to offer alternative prizes of equal or greater value.

Prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable.

We reserve the right at any time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, this prize draw with or without prior notice due to reasons outside our control (including, without limitation, in the case of anticipated, suspected or actual fraud).  Our decision of  in all matters under our control is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.

The prize draw runs from April 26 2024 to February 24 2025.  

Winners will be drawn at random once a month on the last day of the month

The winner will be notified via email or telephone within five working days of the prize draw date.

If a winner does not respond to us within 48 hours of being notified, the winner’s prize will be forfeited and we will be entitled to select another winner, who will also have to respond within 48 hours or they will also forfeit the prize. 

Any personal data (as defined in the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) (“GDPR”) provided to the us in connection with this prize draw shall be processed in accordance with all applicable data protection legislation including GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Our status

We do not promote a lottery and are not lottery promoters.
We are not a gambling or gaming company requiring a licence from the UK Gambling Commission.
Barrnon Media operates and makes entry available into our prize draws. The way in which Barrnon Media operates these prize draws falls outside the definition of gambling as set out in Section 3 of the Gambling Act 2005. Therefore, it does not require a licence to operate and does not constitute gambling.
It does this by providing free alternative method of entry into the prize draws it makes available. All entries made using any free alternative method of entry are treated the same as any paid entries and have an equal chance of winning a prize as any paid entries in prize draws that they are entered in to.
