Players “buzzing’ with improved run of form says skipper
SKIPPER Grant Davidson has hailed a “great start” to new boss Dave “Dabba” Hewson’s Penrith Football Club first team reign — and revealed the players are “buzzing” with an improved run of form.
Striker Shaun Gardner scored twice as the Blues won 2-1 at Whitley Bay on Tuesday night in Northern League Division I. That win extended the side’s recent unbeaten run in all competitions to four games — and followed two-and-a-half weeks without a fixture because of two postponements.
Tuesday’s victory came in Hewson’s first match in permanent charge after a caretaker spell at the helm following the resignation of Andy Coyles.
And, afterwards, Blues captain Davidson reflected on a “great result” at Whitley Bay.
“Hopefully, we can take that and start to try and climb the table,” he said. “We’ve got a tough couple of months with hardly playing at home and playing against the top two teams in December.”
