Popular 5k event parkrun is set to return to Penrith on June 5 and people are urged to step up and volunteer.
It has been 15 months since the last parkrun events were held and organisers of the Penrith event, which takes place at Frenchfield Sports Centre, Frenchfield ,every Saturday at 9am, are asking for volunteers to help them on its return.
A spokeswoman said: “Parkrun relies very heavily on its volunteers who do everything from setting up the course, pre-run briefings, marshalling the course, timing the participants, handing out finish tokens, scanning barcodes and finish tokens.
“Without our volunteers parkrun simply could not happen which would leave eager parkrunners high and dry with nowhere to run and their Saturday in tatters.
“In order to be fully COVID compliant, we will require more helpers than previously and here is an opportunity for those who have felt lonely and isolated during the pandemic, or who just want to be part of something very special. Your local parkrun needs you!”
