A new yoga, wellness and holistic health studio will open its doors in Appleby later this month.
An open day at Coach House Studio, on The Sands, was held on Saturday, when people could try out taster classes and treatments.
The studio is the brainchild of yoga instructor Natasha Winder and her partner Charlie Booth, a building contractor.
Several types of yoga will be on offer, including hatha, vinyasa, kundalini, yin and aerial, and there will be different teachers, including Natasha, who specialises in yin yoga specifically for athletes. Classes will be available at the studio and online.
Other things on offer will include pre and post-natal yoga, sound healing gong baths with Jonathan Farnworth, women’s circles, retreats, workshops and Pilates classes. Natasha will also be holding an early morning exercise class.
Natasha, who is 48 and lives in Appleby, became a fully qualified yoga teacher in 2020. She has previously taught fitness classes at venues including the North Lakes Hotel and Redhills Barn, both in Penrith, and various village halls.
Holistic therapies will also be provided by different people and will include aromatherapy, reflexology, massage, reiki and shamanic healing — a holistic approach which addresses both the physical and spiritual aspects of illness and injury.
“I always wanted a place to bring it all together,” said Natasha, who is also a trustee of the Cumbria Yoga Foundation charity, which exists to improve and protect physical and mental health by supporting community yoga sessions across Cumbria. It will hold some of its meetings at Coach House Studio.
Cumbrian reclaimed wood and stone has been used in the interior of the studio, with the work being carried out by Charlie, who has worked on many projects using stone. “He has brought an artistic element in with two beautiful walls, one of which features a tree of life,” said Natasha.
He added: “We will be using the studio for meetings, fundraising and possibly for delivering some free classes for special groups in the community in the future.”
The studio is due to open on March 20.
