A lane of the M6 near Tebay has been closed after a large pothole appeared.
The hole is on the nearside lane of the southbound carriageway just south of Junction 38 at Tebay.
National Highways said: “A permanent lane one closure is now in place to avoid any vehicles hitting it.
“We are currently awaiting our contractors to arrive on site, assess the surface, and decide the next steps. They will also be likely to confirm what the cause of the pothole is.”
Ashley Tiffen caught the number of vehicles forced to pull over due to the pothole.
