Northern Gas Networks has confirmed it is still targeting a completion date of March 7 for the essential works being carried out in Penrith.
Dan Hind, operations manager at Northern Gas Networks, said: “Our work to upgrade the gas pipes in Penrith will ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to homes and businesses in the area for years to come.
“We’re doing everything we can to complete these works as quickly as possible and our engineers have worked through the weekend to minimise the delays caused by the extreme cold weather which extended the planned time frame for resurfacing work earlier in the project.
“We hope to be able to reopen Devonshire Street later this week before we begin the final phase of this project on King Street, which is expected to take three weeks to complete.”
