Roadworks are set to start on the A66 this weekend.
National Highways will resurface the road between the Sandford and Brough junctions from tomorrow, Sunday November 12.
The section of road will be closed from 8pm to 6am Sunday to Thursday.
The remaining work takes place from Monday November 20 under a convoy system, which will see vehicles temporarily held at traffic lights on the A66 before being escorted through the work site by a shuttle vehicle.
It is part of a £2 million investment from National Highways to strengthen and resurface the A66.
Paul Clark, project manager at National Highways said: “We understand that our essential works may cause inconvenience to road users.
“We would like the assure the community that safety remains our priority, and the work we are doing is crucial for long-term improvement of the road.
“We appreciate people’s patience and co-operation.”
