An Eden man who denies an alleged cocaine supply crime is due to stand trial in front of a jury in early 2021.
Niall Dixon, 24, of Frankland Park, Orton, pleaded not guilty to one charge when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court for a short hearing this morning in front of a judge, Recorder Tom Gilbart.
This charge alleges that Dixon was in possession of cocaine – a controlled drug of class A – with intent to supply it to another on October 21 last year. It arises out of a police stoppage in Appleby on the afternoon of that date.
Dixon – who was represented in court by barrister Kim Whittlestone – is now due to stand trial in the week of March 15 next year.
In the meantime, Dixon was granted unconditional bail by Recorder Gilbart and reminded of a requirement to co-operate with his legal team in the preparation of a defence statement.
This will set out his defence to the charge he denies, the issues he takes with the prosecution case and why.
