The Farmer Network has a new head office for the second time in two years.
It was previously based at Newton Rigg college until its closure in 2001 when it was forced to move. But the independent, not-for-profit farmer-support organisation has now found a new home at Penrith Auction Mart.
Network chair Rob Hitch said: “We are delighted to be moving to such an excellent location and we would like to thank Penrith & District Farmers Mart for giving us the opportunity to do so.
The Farmer Network head office currently manages networks across Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dales, with more than 1,200 farmer members and over 70 corporate members and sponsors.
A new network is also being developed in Northumberland with major funding from the National Lottery and further support from the Royal Countryside Fund.
Managing director Adam Day said: “The new office location gives the Farmer Network much more room and easier access than we have at present. Penrith remains an ideal base between all of our networks, and this will allow us to continue to develop our services and offers to the farming community.”
The Farmer Network delivers a range of support services to help farmers maximise income opportunities, save on business costs and ensure that farmers are up to date and fully informed about real-time changes within the industry.
Mr Day added: “Agriculture is currently in a time of great uncertainty with many pressures being placed upon farmers from all directions. The Farmer Network remains totally focussed on delivering support to them at this time. The new head office space will be very beneficial in future.”
