Winter Tarn Dairy, based at Newby, near Penrith, launched individual portions of its award winning salted and unsalted butters in handy food service 10g portions in 2021.
Ever since the business launched these, they have been in huge demand by hospitality businesses, including cafes, restaurants and hotels up and down the country.
On Tuesday, the family-owned and operated business was presented with a Great Taste award, recognising the quality of the product.
All Winter Tarn Dairy butters are crafted with great care in small batches, using only the finest, fresh dairy cream, sourced from a number of carefully selected small herd dairy farms in the north west of England, and its individual food service portions are no exception.
Harry Jackson, sales manager at Winter Tarn, said: “As you’d expect with our butter, everything is carefully considered, from the provenance of the ingredients we use, to the manufacturing processes. packaging and distribution of our finished butters.
“We work with like- minded businesses, who care about what they do and how they do it.
“Winning a Guild of Fine Food Great Taste award is testament to the care and attention to detail we put into everything we do and is a huge pat on the back for every member of the team.”
The judges said: “There is a rich, yellow colour to these hand-crafted butter portions.
“The butter is creamy, soft, with an excellent balance of salt.”
They added: “It is very smooth and creamy with a light but moreish salinity. There is an enticing complexity to the flavour. Overall, well-seasoned and a delicious savoury butter.”
Winter Tarn Dairy also crafts 200g butter rolls, which it says are just the thing for use in the home, and 1kg catering blocks, which are ideal for use in a whole host of commercial kitchens.
