A Penrith cricket captain and cystic fibrosis sufferer will tackle a fundraising run tomorrow as a new medication provides him with a welcome boost.
Rob Tomlinson was diagnosed with the genetic condition — which affects the lungs and digestive system — aged just two-and-a-half.
This has since controlled what 38-year-old Rob, Penrith Cricket Club’s fourth team skipper for 2020, has been able to do.
But a new medication he began taking in September — Kaftrio — has already boosted Rob’s lung function.
And tomorrow, on Remembrance Sunday, he will tackle a 5km MyPoppyRun in the Penrith area to raise funds for the Royal British Legion.
“Due to my CF, the challenges of just breathing and my lung function, even running 5k seemed an unachievable task,” he said.
“But now I feel it is. I feel a different person. I’m massively excited. Any support to this worthy charity would be very much appreciated.”
