High Sheriff of Cumbria Julie Barton paid a visit to Penrith to meet mayor Doug Lawson and put a spotlight on the town during her year in office.
Mrs Barton was taken on a walking tour of the town to hear some of its history and also met volunteers, charities and local retailers to hear how they had been providing support or coping during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mrs Barton said that Penrith had some great places to shop and that it was a pleasure to see how many people and organisations were providing support in the town.
