A date has now been fixed for a fresh vote on the future of Penrith’s Business Improvement District (BID).
The organisation oversees Penrith’s Christmas lights display and town greening projects, among other things.
The new vote will give Penrith businesses another chance to have their say on its future after the last ballot produced a negative result.
A ballot for town business levy payers was held on November 30 on the proposal for a third, five-year, term of the Penrith BID, taking it up to 2028.
Darren Broad, chairman of Penrith Business Improvement District (BID), said: “I am pleased to announce that we have set a date of June 28.
“We have already started the ball rolling by informing the Secretary of State and local authority of our intention to hold a new vote. Details and voting forms will be sent out towards the end of May.
“The business plan will be re-drafted ready to send out to every business but we are always interested in your views. The plan was about the town and what we can do together and in turn improve our business and local economy.”
Town businesses are being asked: “Was there anything you felt was missed in the last plan? Do you have any comments or suggestions?
“Please get in touch with us to let us know by the end of this month.”
