Pupils across two year groups at Kirkby Stephen Primary School have been sent home this week to isolate after three positive COVID-19 cases in the school.
Children in one of the school’s year three groups and all of the year five pupils were isolated on Monday, after it was confirmed there had been three positive tests across the two years groups.
Four members of staff have also gone into isolation. They are all set to return to the school following next week’s half-term break.
Headteacher Lynne Wade confirmed those who tested positive were recovering well and pupils in isolation have access to education online.
The incident has been reported to Public Health England and all relevant agencies have been informed and guidelines followed, she said.
“We are fully aware and doing everything we can to make sure everyone is safe and we are working with the agencies,” Mrs Wade said.
