A Penrith store has confirmed that it is not closing down despite a rumour sweeping the town and radio reports.
A spokesman at Go Outdoors on Ullswater Road, said it is holding a 30 per cent off sale ahead of an impending refurbishment at the branch, during which the business will remain open throughout, he said.
There may be an occasion where the store might need to briefly close for final checks of the refurbishment, although this had not yet been confirmed, he said.
Its understood that the news may have been sparked by a closing down billboard outside which drivers may have passed, although a spokesman conceded it does add “temporarily” in a smaller font.
Representatives for the company headquarters were also contacted for comment.
