Concerns have been raised after a car was seen driving “suspiciously” behind an Upper Eden school bus.
Parents were urged to be vigilant after an incident which was reported to have happened on Tuesday afternoon.
A Cumbria police spokesman said: “We have been made aware of concerns over a car which was being driven behind a school bus travelling from Kirkby Stephen, leaving the town at about 3.25pm.
“We have made contact with the school as part of our enquiries into the matter and a uniformed PCSO has attended the school at pick-up time and followed the bus to offer reassurance.”
One staff member from one neighbouring school said they had been made aware the incident involving a car driving suspiciously behind a secondary school bus. “As always, please be vigilant and inform us if you see anything suspicious,” parents were told.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
