An elderly dog swept away in a Cumbrian river was rescued by firefighters.
The dog had gone into the River Eden at Great Salkeld and was swept a great distance before managing to clamber onto an island in the middle of the waterway.
His owners called Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and three crews, from Penrith, Lazonby and Carlisle, attended.
Crews were able to wade and swim over to the island and rescue him bringing him back to his owners on a rescue sled.
