Penrith’s traffic wardens have handed Helen Skelton three tickets this week – because she could not get to grips with a parking app.
As Helen and her dance partner Gorka Marquez revealed the song they will be dancing to for Strictly Come Dancing’s movie week, she also said she had been landed with three fines.
The Countryfile presenter shared a snap from professional dance partner Gorka Marquez’s Instagram page confirming that the duo will be performing a Viennese waltz to Grease’s Hopelessly Devoted To You.
Now in week three of the competition, the stars have hit their first Strictly milestone of the season as they enter the competition’s first themed week.
Introduced in 2014, Strictly’s annual movie week sees the contestants tasked with performing routines inspired by the biggest Hollywood blockbusters.
Yesterday marked the second to last day of training for Helen and Gorka, who said in an Instagram video that they were having a great time rehearsing.
Gorka added: “We’re having a great day since the dance is going incredible and we’re having a really good time rehearsing and dancing it, but we’ve had a very interesting day, I had a flat tyre this morning and Helen’s had three parking tickets in one week.”
The former Blue Peter presenter said she had used a car parking ticket app wrong, and had paid to park in a different car park by mistake, but that spirits were remaining high regardless of the mishap.
She said: I’m very happy today, my feet are in shreds but we’re not talking about that, we’re keeping positive. Moral of the story is, buy a physical ticket and don’t use the app if you’re 100 like me!”
The duo have been rehearsing in Penrith, with some eagle-eyed fans spotting them leaving sessions together and townsfolk are getting behind the pair – with Karen Radcliffe from Caffeine Rush in the town centre even having her snap of them created as a poster.
Last Saturday, the duo scored 27 on the live show, landing them seventh on the leaderboard.
