Supplies of petrol and diesel ran out at Penrith’s Townhead Garage today, following a surge in demand due to its lower prices.
The Townhead station had been charging 179.9p per litre for petrol and 193.9p for diesel — the same prices as at the town’s Morrisons outlet this morning.
Eagle-eyed drivers have been filling up and caused stocks to run dry, but a fuel delivery has been made and people are back at the pumps for fuel at the same prices.
Other stations in the town are asking as much as 189.9p for petrol and 199.9p for diesel.
Drivers are keen for a good deal as fuel prices continue to rise. Last week, the garage could only sell diesel as it had run out of regular unleaded.
