A bid to breathe new life into Penrith’s Castle Park has been launched.
Penrith Futures Partnership wants to hear people’s views about how the park could be developed to become the jewel in the crown of the town.
Based on feedback already gathered, the partnership said plans could include a new children’s water feature, cafe/restaurant, market garden, art installations, music performances, events, activity days and more.
But the partnership wants to know your views – fill out the form below to let us know how you would like to see the park developed.
The partnership said now was the time to reinvestigate plans initially mooted by Eden council six years ago to transform the park into a vibrant focal point.
The 3.75-hectare park includes the War Memorial Lychgate, the Black Angel war memorial, bandstand, bowling green with pavilion, public toilets, four tennis courts, an obstacle golf area, putting green, children’s play area, maintenance compound and the castle itself.
The authority has committed £187,000 towards improvements and providing a new home for Penrith Tennis Club, but the partnership believes the park has tremendous potential.
A £ 2 million application to the National Lottery for earlier plans was unsuccessful, but the partnership is keen to see the ambitious proposals resurrected.
