An Eden man has appeared in court accused of failing to stop at the scene of an accident after a car crashed into a wall in Penrith.
Christopher Stainton, 24, appeared in front of Carlisle magistrates today.
Stainton pleaded not guilty to one charge.
This alleges that he failed to stop after an accident in which damage was caused to a wall on Beacon Edge in Penrith, on October 18 last year, following a crash which involved a Volkswagen Golf.
During a short court hearing, prosecutor Pam Ward gave an outline of the allegation faced by Stainton, of Scalehouses, Renwick.
Solicitor Duncan Campbell, for Stainton, responded by saying the defendant’s case was that he had taken all appropriate steps in the aftermath of the collision.
A trial is due to be held at Carlisle magistrates’ court on June 22.
In the meantime, Stainton was granted unconditional bail.
