A fund set up to help pay for the funeral of Carlisle woman Sophie Burns has raised over £700.
Sophie, 28, of Dalton Crescent, was last seen on December 12.
Her body was found in the Burgh-by-Sands area on Monday.
Emily Heaviside, a friend of Sophie’s partner Lucy Cottier, set up the Gofundme page to help pay for Sophie’s funeral.
Emily said: “Let’s make sure Sophie gets the best goodbye possible. Please help and support Sophie’s family and friends by donating, so Sophie can get the send off she deserves.”
The target is £3,000 and it has so far raised £730.
The circumstances of the former Appleby Grammar School pupil’s death are not believed to be suspicious.
Lucy Cottier posted on her Facebook page: “Soafi, I can’t believe I am writing this. You were loved by so many people. I wish you could have seen all the love and support since you went missing.
“I wish I could just talk to you one last time and I wish I could have done more to help you. I know you are at peace now from all of your demons. Rest easy Soaf, until we meet again. The brightest star in the sky.”
Meanwhile, Lilly Van Verdriet, one of those involved in the search for Sophie, posted in the “Help to bring Sophie Burns home safe” Facebook group to thank the public for their support.
“After all this time – at least she is found,” she posted.
“Thank you for everyone who helped searching – Sophie was a wonderful person and we saw how much she brought people together after she went missing. We will never forget her.”
Her family issued a tribute to Sophie, saying: “Our beautiful, talented Sophie has gone forever.
“Taken from us by an illness she couldn’t control and we will never truly understand. She leaves a hole in our lives that we will never, ever fill.”
