A plan has been submitted to Eden Council seeking permission to paint Appleby Moot Hall yellow.
The Grade II* listed building, which dates from the late 16th century, houses the town council’s chamber on the first floor and Appleby tourist information centre on its ground floor.
A letter from Crosby Granger Architects, accompanying the planning application which has been submitted by Appleby Town Council, states the proposal is to use a light ochre (yellow) pigment in to the approved limewash to reinstate an earlier colour found on the building.
