People were evacuated from a property in Lazonby in the early hours after carbon monoxide was detected by an alarm.
Firefighters from Lazonby and the East Carlisle station were called out to the property and scanned it for levels of the dangerous gas.
They confirmed there was carbon monoxide within the house.
A spokesman for the station said: “Thankfully, activation of the correctly fitted alarms has alerted the owner to the carbon monoxide at the earliest opportunity, meaning they were able to evacuate and call us before being subject to prolonged carbon monoxide poisoning.”
