A mother has appeared in court charged with neglect offences against several children in an Eden village.
The woman — who cannot be identified due to legal reasons — is charged with neglecting the children between 1st June, 2017, and 27th January, 2018.
She entered no pleas when she appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
However she pleaded guilty to one drugs offence — possession of cocaine between 25th and 26th January, 2018.
Prosecutor John Moran said it was a protracted case of neglect and argued it was not suitable to be dealt with at the magistrates court.
No objection was made by defence solicitor John Smith.
District Judge Gerald Chalk declined jurisdiction for the case and committed the woman to Carlisle Crown Court on 16th October. She was released on unconditional bail.
