Old hands and newcomers to sheepdog handling are competing and chatting today at trials being held at Hutton-in-the-Forest by the North Westmorland Sheepdog Society.
One of those in the new handler class is Elizabeth Harrison, 21, of Shap, who is running her dog Sam.
She thought her run had gone well, but will have to wait until the end of the day to discover her score.
Elizabeth said sheepdog handling is a bit of a family tradition, with her brother Robert and father Richard both having competed at international level.
She added that she hopes to follow their example and plans to take part in open trials later this year.
