North Lakes Living has won supplement of the year in the Regional Press Awards.
The monthly 32-page lifestyle magazine was first launched in May 2024 and is produced by Barrnon Media’s Keswick Reminder and the Cumberland & Westmorland Herald.
At a ceremony on Wednesday in London, North Lakes Living came out on top and won Supplement of The Year – from a shortlist of six other supplements from across the country.
Judges were particularly impressed by the terrific mix of fascinating pieces covering a wide range of topics and praised the strong images and well thought out design with wonderful covers.
Each edition is packed with people-focused features, author profiles, book reviews, a focus on local food and drink producers, charities, community projects and more.
It also includes a regular guide to walks in the area and four pages of puzzles, as well as competitions with prizes provided by local retailers and restaurants.
The supplement is distributed free of charge in the last edition of the Cumberland & Westmorland Herald every month.
With a strong focus on editorial, alongside sponsored content, the title relies on reporters getting out and about across an 800-square-mile patch and meeting people living and working locally.
North Lakes Living was an immediate success, with readers writing in to commend the editorial and design teams, and advertisers enthusiastically embracing the title.
The Regional Press Awards are recognised as one of the top awards ceremonies within UK journalism. They seek to award the grit, determination and talent that defines the industry.
The awards cover 20 categories that recognise everything from the best in breaking news to digital initiatives across the industry.
