Extinction Rebellion protestors have gathered outside a Penrith insurance brokers.
The protestors want Marsh Commercial, which has an office on Middlegate, to stop brokering insurance for fossil fuel projects.
The group, who gathered from noon today, Wednesday January 8, said fossil fuel developments were causing climate breakdown and want Marsh to switch its focus to “insuring our future”.
A spokesman for the group said: “Climate change is already killing people. Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and homes in high-risk areas are becoming uninsurable.
“We are asking Marsh to be climate heroes – to make a safer and fairer future for us all by helping the world phase out fossil fuels and move towards a green economy with sustainable, lasting jobs for all.”
