A horse rider was helped by volunteers from Penrith Mountain Rescue Team after a fall on Saturday.
The 20-year-old woman was riding a Shire horse when it was spooked by a pheasant, resulting in her becoming unseated.
Rescuers were called out to help shortly around 3.45pm where the woman was said to have pain in her lower back and hip.
Once volunteers arrived on the scene at Whinfell Forest and assessed the woman, the decision was made to package the casualty using a pelvic binder and vacuum mattress due to the nature of her fall and pain.
Pain relief was administered and team members carried her by stretcher to the stables and transferred her to a waiting ambulance.
The incident took Penrith Mountain Rescue Team just over three hours and involved 12 team members.
