An injured horse rider was rescued by a mountain rescue team on a north Cumbrian castle’s estate.
Penrith Mountain Rescue Team was called out yesterday, Tuesday November 26, at around 9.20am to Greystoke Castle, near Penrith.
The team had been alerted by the North West Ambulance Service that a rider had been thrown from their horse.
The exact location was not known, but was believed to be on the fellside, so the team was asked for help.
The team said: “After piecing together the information we had, and speaking with the estate farmer, the casualty location was established and team members deployed.
“Due to concerns around the casualty’s back pain and mechanism of injury he was given pain relief then placed in a vacuum mattress on a stretcher to immobilise him.
“He was then driven in a team Land Rover to the castle and handed over to a land ambulance for onward travel. Our thanks to those on the estate who assisted us on this callout.”
