Eden Council looks set to postpone discussion of a proposal to provide a £100,000 grant to fund improvements at Penrith Football Club’s stadium at Frenchfield.
The controversial issue was due to be discussed at this evening’s meeting of the full council, but a notice to withdraw it from the agenda was submitted on Tuesday.
The notice reads: “This withdrawal is at the agreement of the vice-chairman of the council, in the chair for the above meeting, for the following reason –
“A meeting between the club, the Football Association and council officers to discuss potential investments at the club has been arranged and it is felt appropriate to postpone the report coming to council to reflect the outcomes of that meeting.”
