A man who was teaching people to drive despite not having a licence to do so has appeared in court.
Police in Penrith stopped Mark Brookes, 55, of Brentfield Way in the town, in February, as officers suspected he was giving paid tuition to pupils without a licence.
Brookes appeared at Carlisle Magistrates Court this week and admitted providing unlicenced driving tuition for payment and for using a vehicle without valid insurance.
He will be sentenced on December 3.
Eden Police said: “We issue a further reminded to all learner drivers, parents and guardians to only use fully trained and authorised instructors. To check if an instructor is licenced, visit this website: https://www.gov.uk/find-driving-schools-and-lessons
“Anyone concerned that their driving instructor may not be licenced is asked to contact the DVSA online or police via 101.”
