No areas in Eden have coronavirus case rates above the national average as Cumbria ranks inside the 30 worst places in the UK.

No areas in Eden have coronavirus case rates above the national average as Cumbria ranks inside the 30 worst places in the UK.

New figures show 38 areas are above the national average in Cumbria.

The Public Health England data, which shows the number of new cases for the week ending July 14, reveals that Cumbria has a case rate of 556 per 100,000, making it the 29th worst upper-tier local authority area in the UK.

The England average is 426.1 per 100,000. There were 2,780 new cases in the county during that period.

Here is a list of the areas with case rates above the England average. The number of new cases is accompanied by the rate per 100,000 in brackets:

Cumbria is now in the top 30 areas for the rate of new coronavirus cases as new figures show 38 areas are above the national average.

  6. Cleator Moor, Frizington and Ennerdale – 99 (852 per 100,000)
  7. Egremont and Moor Row – 64 (823.9 per 100,000)
  8. Mirehouse, Kells and Woodhouse – 80 (813.6 per 100,000)
  9. Central Carlisle – 66 (804.3 per 100,000)
  10. Wigton and Silloth – 89 (802.7 per 100,000)
