EDEN’S Mark Donovan was this week named in the Great Britain cycling team for the UCI Road World Championships, which will take place in Bergen, Norway, from 17th to 24th September.

The 18-year-old, from Penruddock, is one of five junior (under-19) men listed in the team and will compete in the road race. Two members of the team will also take part in a time trial.

Mark is a former member of Penrith’s Beacon Wheelers and now rides for the Zappi Racing Team, which was founded by Italian ex-professional cyclist Flavio Zappi in 2009 as a development team. It gives young riders the coaching support and race experience to discover their potential.
