THE Lake District National Park Authority has warned residents in the Patterdale and Glenridding area that it will be making a "lot of noise" next week.

On Monday, Fix the Fells rangers are flying stone by helicopter to Grisedale, above Patterdale, and then for four further days there will be missions to Caudale Bridge, off the A592 at Kirkstone Pass, to drop stone at the Boredale Hause paths above Rooking.

Richard Fox, a ranger for Fix the Fells, said: "I'm afraid we’ll be making a lot of noise in Patterdale for seven or eight days.

"For this we’ll be operating traffic management on the A592, just to the south of the youth hostel, so we can fly safely across the road and avoiding as much habitation as possible."

The flights will take start around 9am each day and finish around 5am. Mr Fox said there would be no flights at the weekend unless the weather was a total wash out.
