Trust set to buy former care home
AN offer by the Oaklea Trust to buy Appleby’s former Edenside care home from Cumbria County Council has been accepted.
The trust, which plans to redevelop Edenside as an elderly residential care centre, says contracts could be exchanged within eight weeks.
The announcement follows many months of negotiations between the charity and the county council.
Edenside, in Holme Street, Appleby, was previously a residential care home for the elderly and has been unoccupied since its residents were forced to leave during Storm Desmond in December, 2015.
