Tories hold Penrith and the Border with reduced majority

CONSERVATIVE Rory Stewart has been re-elected as MP for Penrith and the Border, with a decreased majority, as Labour saw a surge in support.

Mr. Stewart's majority now stands at 15,910 — down 3,984 from the 19,894 he secured in 2015. The result was officially declared shortly before 4am, following a count at Penrith Leisure Centre.
