The “rock” craze sweeping Penrith
PAINTED stones — which are part of a social media craze — are brightening Penrith’s doorsteps, pavements, parks and green spaces.
Spearheading the popular trend — which is sweeping the world — in Penrith is Melissa Bamber, who lives in the town.
She saw that a friend, who lives in Coventry, had been posting on social media about painting and hunting for rocks. She got in touch with her and asked what it was all about.
Melissa was pointed in the direction of the Facebook group Love on the rocks UK (Painting Rocks — Making Smiles), which has more than 84,000 members, and she created the group Penrith rocks.
Melissa, aged 32, who has a 10-year-old daughter, Jacey Austwick, said she was “overwhelmed” by the response.
